Leaving BBC Three on a high after eight hugely successful series, it’s good news for BBC Two viewers. Welcoming the brand new series of Russell Howard’s Good News to the channel this autumn, BBC Three’s best performing entertainment series and one of the most watched shows on BBC iPlayer, will be making the big channel leap over to BBC Two this October with a nine-part primetime run.

In the ninth series, RUSSELL will once again be offering his unique and quirky take on the week’s global headlines and bizarre news stories. Sifting through over 60 international news channels, 140 newspapers from around the world and over a thousand news clips, no stone is left unturned in his pursuit of the weird and wonderful stories that have been dominating the press over the previous seven days.

The show as always will include a mix of stand up and sketches, and to close the show, an inspirational and thought provoking tale to tug at the heartstrings.

Recorded in front of a live studio audience, viewers at home can shape the show’s agenda by submitting news stories online via Twitter @bbcgoodnews.

A busy year has seen RUSSELL embark on his brand new sell-out world tour Wonderbox, performing to over 285,000 fans at 40 shows across the UK and Ireland, including four consecutive nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall, as well as sold-out runs in the USA, Australia and New Zealand. Wonderbox is RUSSELL’s first live stand up show for three years and follows on from his three-times-extended 2011 tour Right Here, Right Now, which included three sold out dates at London’s O2 and saw RUSSELL perform to over 240,000 fans nationwide. Russell Howard’s Good News regularly trends globally on Twitter during each episode. RUSSELL HOWARD has 3 million fans on Facebook and alongside LEE EVANS, is the joint-third most searched for comedian on Google.
