“The line ups are pretty much always perfect”
Evening Standard
Bang in the middle of her debut UK tour – a tour which has already been extended to meet overwhelming demand for tickets – Best Newcomer Nominee and Taskmaster Champion Sophie Duker is set to wake up the best and baddest comedy night in London from its post-pandemic party nap. Taking over Hackney Empire on Thursday 26th October, the notorious Wacky Racists Comedy Club will serve up a night of epic comedy chaos. In addition to its consistently “perfect” past line-ups (featuring guest acts like Nish Kumar, Sindhu Vee, London Hughes) Wacky Racists is known for its anarchic audience games, such as the unforgettable “Pin The Tail On The Honky”. Expect super-sized silliness. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday 21st June and can be found on hackneyempire.co.uk.
Hosted by millennial comedy queen, incel wet dream and professional gammon-botherer: Sophie Duker, this sell-out comedy experience pulls no punches, gives zero Fs and unlimited LOLs. Since its inception Wacky Racists has platformed performers of colour and under-represented allies in silly, subversive, genre-bending shows. The grassroots night spoke to a new generation of comedy fans, earning Wacky a sell-out residency, festival spots, academic recognition and cult status. The Empire is Wacky’s biggest stage to date – and, led by Duker, the all-star cast intend to rip the roof off. Expect guest sets from the UK’s top comics, hair-raising and hilarious challenges and a pre-show playlist to make you whine sweetly in your seat. At this night, the audience is encouraged to be as unapologetic as the acts. The Wacky Racists guarantee? Pure melanated mirth, all night long.
DISCLAIMER: It’s not a night for *actually* wacky, actual racists.
The news of a supersized Wacky for 2023 arrives just as Sophie is mid-way through a huge nationwide tour of her critically-acclaimed stand-up show ‘Hag’. The final leg of this debut tour, scheduled for Autumn 2023, will see her hit brand new venues across the country, as well as return to key cities to perform in bigger venues with increased audience capacity. This extension will also see Sophie perform in Ireland for the first time ever. Sophie performs in Dublin on Sunday 12th November and, following total sell-outs at Soho Theatre and Leicester Square Theatre, she will perform ‘Hag’ a final time in the capital at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre on Friday 10th November.
