Following 70 Political Party shows at Westminster’s The Other Palace and a subsequent successful West End Political Party fortnightly residency beginning in September 2021, Matt Forde announces an extension at The Duchess Theatre kickstarting with Emily Maitlis & Jon Sopel, Mick Lynch and Matt Hancock.
On the 19th September, Matt is joined by former BBC journalist Emily Maitlis, shortly after delivering a ground-breaking Edinburgh MacTaggart Lecture, in which she claimed a BBC board member was “an active agent of the Conservative Party” who is “acting as the arbiter of BBC impartiality”. Emily will be joined by her colleague Jon Sopel to discuss leaving the corporation to launch a new podcast and host a radio show together on LBC.
On the 3rd October, Matt is set to talk to RMT Union leader Mick Lynch about being the face of the train strikes, negotiating behind the scenes and talking to the media on the action workers are taking.
On the 17th October, Matt interviews the former Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock in what promises to be a candid account of serving in this role during the pandemic.
The news arrives following three headline grabbing Edinburgh Fringe Political Party specials with Gordon Brown, Anas Sarwar and Joanna Cherry, while Matt continues to perform at the festival with his new stand-up show Clowns To The Left of Me, Jokers To The Right until 28th August. Alongside the West End Political Party extension, Matt returns to London to perform his stand-up show over three dates at Leicester Square Theatre on the 18th October and The Bloomsbury Theatre on the 21st and 28th October. Prior to this Matt toured Clowns To The Left of Me, Jokers To The Right nationwide including performances in the Capital at the Southbank Centre, Bloomsbury Theatre and a week at the Soho Theatre.
