“He’s amazing” Dave Chappelle
“Travis is hilarious. Always a hit with audiences. Smart, funny guy” Rob Delaney
Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year nominee, Travis Jay presents his first solo hour, Funny, Petty, Cool, which will debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 1st to 25th August at 2:35pm at Just The Tonic, The Attic Room.
Funny, Petty, Cool… just exactly which is Travis Jay? From a throwback to the time Travis accidentally became leader of a Black Lives Matter protest, to delving into his South London upbringing and a raw look at the impact of his grandfather passing, this unique debut hour offers both a deeply personal and side-splitting socio-political insight in to his world to date. Having watched his mother Angie Le Mar perform her own comedy sketch show at the festival as a child in 1994, this debut show will mark Travis’ return to Edinburgh for the first time in twenty-five years.
After winning the Jumpoff TV Comedy competition in 2012 Travis went on to perform on BBC 1Xtra and made an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Stephen K Amos’ Life: An Idiot’s Guide. Travis currently hosts Undefeated, a boxing podcast for casual fans, alongside KG Tha Comedian and he has recently presented on The Beat London from 2016 to 2018 where he hosted his show The Vibe. As an actor Travis has appeared as TJ the Barber in web series Brothers with No Game (London Live), and has worked with Hollywood actor Aml Ameen on the short film 12 The Damaged Race (AmeenDreem Entertainment). Travis has also recently performed alongside Dave Chappelle, Katherine Ryan, Jon Richardson, Rob Delaney and Russell Howard. While Travis may be a Fringe newcomer, he is no stranger to the stage and is a creative, animated, and intelligent performer who has built a reputation as being an entertaining and sometimes controversial story teller.
