After two sold-out, critically-acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe shows and a 110-date international tour, the TikTok record-breaker, world-famous prankster and Lee Nelson creator returns to Edinburgh with Xavier, Simon’s third stand-up show performing as himself. (Pleasance Courtyard 2nd-27th, not 15th, August, 8.30pm.)

Tickets are on sale now at simonbrodkin.com

In Xavier, Simon asks where all the good people have gone. Our prime ministers are crooks, our police can’t be trusted and the Royal Family are morally bankrupt attention seekers. So who better to be our ethical compass than an untrustworthy, morally bankrupt attention seeker who’s been arrested five times. Simon knows he’s not a good person. Not as bad as Ayatollah Khamenei but better than Matt Hancock … just. In his funniest show to date, Simon argues that paramedics are less caring than you think, Ant & Dec are pure evil and Churchill’s no better than a coked-up Millwall fan. But why is Simon trying to introduce his wife to a man called Xavier?

Last year “the world’s most famous blagger” (The Daily Telegraph) broke records on TikTok, becoming the most-viewed British stand-up comedian of all time on the platform, with one routine from last year’s Edinburgh Fringe show viewed more than 40 million times.

In 2019 Simon shed his characters and performed stand-up as himself for the very first time in his Fringe show 100% Simon Brodkin. The show enjoyed a sold-out run and was selected by The Evening Standard as one of the ‘Best Comedy Shows at the Edinburgh Fringe’ and was one of The Guardian’s ‘Shows We Recommend’. A national tour followed which was extended to meet demand. Simon’s next Fringe show in 2021 (Screwed Up) explored his relationship to fame and recent ADHD diagnosis. Again the run was sold out and the show was a hit with critics. Simon then took the show around the UK and Europe, embarking on his largest ever tour, including eight nights at London’s Leicester Square and a run of international dates.

Star of Britain’s Greatest Hoaxer (Channel 4) Simon has made global headlines multiple times for his audacious stunts, showering disgraced FIFA president Sepp Blatter with bank notes, handing Theresa May a P45 during her speech at the Conservative Party Conference, surrounding Donald Trump at the opening of his golf course with hundreds of swastika-emblazoned golf balls, joining Kanye West on the Pyramid Stage during his headline set at Glastonbury, boarding the England team plane to the World Cup disguised as a member of the squad, renaming Sir Philip Green’s £100m superyacht the ‘BHS Destroyer’ and entering Britain’s Got Talent as an ultra-orthodox ‘Rapping Rabbi’, fooling Simon Cowell and the other judges and receiving four ‘yeses’. Britain’s Greatest Hoaxer followed Simon behind the scenes as he planned and executed several of his stunts and was nominated for Best Documentary at the Monte Carlo TV Festival Golden Nymph Awards 2018. It has been watched online almost 50 million times.

Simon created the irrepressible character and “comedy legend” (The Sun) Lee Nelson, enjoying three hugely successful BBC series with Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show and Lee Nelson’s Well Funny People. Simon has performed on Live at the Apollo (BBC One) three times, Sunday Night at the Palladium (ITV), The John Bishop Christmas Show (BBC One), Children In Need (BBC One), Channel 4’s Comedy Gala and many more TV shows.
