Multi-award nominated musical-activist-comedians Jonny & The Baptists return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with Love Edinburgh and Hate Bastards before embarking on a 33 date UK tour this Autumn. Their latest concoction of politically charged, raucous acoustic mayhem will be performed at Assembly Roxy, Upstairs from 1st – 25th August at 7pm.
Jonny & The Baptists (Jonny Donahoe & Paddy Gervers) love everyone and want to make a world that no longer communicates through cruelty and unkindness. But is that possible without giving up your politics and your principles? The musical comedy duo’s 6th show hopes to cross the divide and bring people together the only way they know how, with musical brilliance and thought-provoking lyrics. Their unique brand of silly, satirical songs and comedy-rock anthems will explore themes of tribalism, privilege, and knowing when to admit you’re wrong.
The musical satirists are regularly featured on BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show as well as regular appearances on The Infinite Monkey Cage, Live From Television Centre and Sketchorama (BBC Radio 4). They have supported Mark Thomas on tour and appeared at major festivals including Latitude, Kaleidoscope, and Greenbelt, while their single Farage topped the iTunes comedy chart.
