“Musical comedy hasn’t been in such safe hands for years” Brian Donaldson, The List
“If Flanders & Swann and Flight of the Conchords and Garfunkel & Oates had a six-way time-travelling gang-bang that somehow mixed all their DNA, the offspring might end up sounding something like Flo & Joan” Chortle
“these intricately crafted, flawlessly performed numbers will have you howling with laughter one minute, wiping away a tear the next” ★★★★ Rupert Hawksley, The Telegraph
“Their style is stiletto sharp, their diction perfect as they race through their complex rhymes” Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard
“endlessly charming, catchy, and bloody brilliant” Kayleigh Dray, Stylist
Following a sell-out run at last year’s Fringe and two sell-out stints at London’s Soho Theatre with their critically acclaimed debut show The Kindness of Stranglers, Chortle and Leicester Comedy Award winners Flo & Joan – whose songs have reached 50 million views – have returned to the festival to perform their brand new hour Alive On Stage at the Pleasance Cabaret Bar at 4:00pm until 26th August. Due to phenomenal demand, two extra shows were added on 4th and 5th August with an additional three shows now announced on 17th August at the Pleasance Cabaret Bar at 9:20pm and on 24th and 25th August at Pleasance QueenDome at 8:20pm, before embarking on a UK tour from 19th September.
The suspiciously unsimilar sisters will return to the Festival this year with Alive On Stage, an all-new hour of their darkly witty/wittily dark numbers on weddings, sex robots and crisps for women, although probably not all in the same song.
Nicola and Rosie previously starred in a series of adverts for Nationwide Building Society, with their video Sisters being rated YouTube’s most popular advert in January. Their viral hit The 2016 Song has been viewed over 50 million times on social media and was featured on websites including Comedy Central (where it was video of the day), A.V. Club, Glamour and Stylist. Having spent two years working with the renowned improv company Second City in Toronto, Nicola and Rosie have recently settled back in the UK, where they have appeared on BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show and Fresh from the Fringe, and established a sell-out monthly residency at London’s Brasserie Zedel. In 2016 and 2017 they were part of the Best of the Fest selections at both the Montreal and Toronto Sketchfests, also winning the Now Audience Choice Award in Toronto. Their Canadian TV credits include CBC’s flagship comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and they have recorded a series of videos for CBC Online.
