“Possibly the best political comedy show on the Fringe…informed, astute, consistently funny…crammed with spot-on impersonations…class” Dominic Cavendish, The Telegraph
“A first class comic” The Guardian
“Forde’s Donald Trump impersonation is easily better and funnier than Alec Baldwin’s on Saturday Night Live” Paul Fleckney, Chortle
Following 2016’s sold out 2016 Christmas Special featuring Ed Balls & Alastair Campbell, Matt Forde’s critically-acclaimed Political Party returns to London’s Leicester Square Theatre for two live festive podcast recordings on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th December with house band MP4, the UK’s only cross-party political rock band, and some of Westminster’s most charismatic and controversial figures.
Joining Matt on Wednesday 6th December are former Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Democrats, Nick Clegg, and Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, the first female Muslim to serve in a British cabinet. On Thursday 7th December, Matt’s guests will be outspoken Conservative Party MP Anna Soubry and former Mayor of London and Labour MP, ‘Red’ Ken Livingstone.
Both evenings promise to be a raucous end to the wildest year in British politics… yet.
Matt Forde’s London show, The Political Party, has been a sell-out during its monthly residency at Westminster’s The Other Palace for nearly five years. Matt has brought Parliament to life with his stand-up and debate with some of politics’ most powerful and notorious figures, including Tony Blair, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Ed Balls, Ruth Davidson, Alastair Campbell, Michael Portillo, Harriet Harman, Nigel Farage, Neil Kinnock, Alan Johnson, Lord Prescott, Jack Straw and Dame Tessa Jowell. The show is also released as a podcast which has amassed over 840,000 downloads on Soundcloud, hit the top spot of the iTunes comedy chart, was picked as the Daily Telegraph’s podcast of the week, and was nominated for the Internet Award in the 2015 Chortle Awards.
Matt will return to UKTV in early 2018 with a fourth series of his award-nominated political comedy show Unspun with Matt Forde. Recorded shortly before transmission, Unspun will “Make politics great again” with up-to-the minute analysis of the political landscape during these tumultuous times and an in-depth discussion with one of Britain’s leading political figures that will sit at the heart of each episode. Previous guests on the series include former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Harriet Harman MP and Scottish Conservatives leader, Ruth Davidson.
