[Harry Baker’s] intricate, quick-fire rhymes have always been on the impressive side of mind-blowing, but in a new and unexpected departure, he’s teamed up with the honey-toned singer and jazz guitarist Chris to create a bewitching new sound The Scotsman

Following a sell-out Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Leicester Comedy Festival Award nomination, World Poetry Slam Champion HARRY BAKER & Award-winning musician CHRIS READ return with a second hour of tightly-written, fast-paced and tongue-in-cheek lyrics set to be rapped over soulful melodies. Championing unadulterated fun in an increasingly down trodden world, the pair will perform renditions on topics including the delights of time travel, robot wars and the survival of the panda bear.

HARRY & CHRIS will play the family-friendly and aptly-titled The Harry & Chris Show 2 at Just The Tonic, Cask Room at 2.20pm from the 3rd to 27th August and embark on a nationwide tour from 26th October to 30th December. Their monthly showcase Joyride, featuring themselves, a house band and favourites guests from the world of comedy, music and poetry continues in to 2017 at Platform in Southwark, culminating with a Harry & (Chris)tmas special at the Leicester Square Theatre on the 13th December.

Performance poet (and math student) HARRY BAKER’s poem about prime numbers has been shared on TED.com and has been translated into 20 different languages. It has a combined viewership of 3 million along with his other 4 TEDx talks. HARRY’s blistering wordplay ***** (Three Weeks) has seen him coined as ‘a champion’ by ED SHEERAN,  ‘a show stealer’ by SCROOBIUS PIP and SCOTT MILLS described a performance on his BBC Radio 1 show as ‘the greatest thing he’s ever seen’. His debut anthology, The Sunshine Kid was published with Burning Eye in 2014 and a subsequent show of the same name was voted Best Spoken Word show of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015.

CHRIS READ (Brilliant Evening Standard) is  an “up-and-coming talent” (All About Jazz) on the UK jazz scene and performs regularly around the country, as well as overseas including the Lincoln Centre in New York and at many festivals including Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. 2016 saw him bring out his debut album If I Knew, he also performs regularly solo and with the Chris Read Quartet and has begun writing for stage and screen.

Having played together in various forms since they were 14, HARRY & CHRIS have previously performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2016 and have since toured across the UK, earning them a Leicester Comedy Festival Award nomination earlier this year.

What The Press Has Said About Harry & Chris

A combination of catchy hooks and breath-taking verbal ingenuity makes this a winning hour… The quality and quantity of laughs on offer is generous and yet the show is cynicism-free, the tone unapologetically feel-good
