‘Provides an intriguing twentysomething perspective on the current state of his nation’ Guardian Guide
Edinburgh’s BAFTA-winning comedian Iain Stirling returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe fresh from narrating hit show Love Island and hosting brand-new CelebAbility (both ITV2). Looking at the impact new world instant gratification has on our ability to find long term happiness, Iain will perform his sixth hour U Ok Hun? from the 2nd – 27th August at 7.40pm at the Pleasance Above. Following the festival, Iain is set to embark on a nationwide tour.
After enjoying widespread critical acclaim for writing and voicing witty one-liners on ITV2’s National Television Award and Broadcast Award nominated Love Island last year, Iain returns to narrate a second series this summer. He’ll also be hosting CelebAbility, a brand-new physical comedy entertainment show (ITV2) which sees celebrities and members of the public go head-to-head in rounds of games.
A well-known face on television, Love Island and CelebAbility add to an extensive list of credits including Virtually Famous (E4), Drunk History and Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (both Comedy Central), Russell Howard’s Good News and Sweat the Small Stuff (both BBC Three) and Fake Reaction and Safe Word (both ITV2).
A driving force behind the concept of comedy panel show The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC), Iain has co-written and hosted four series which saw him win 2017’s Children’s BAFTA Best Presenter Award (2017) and following three nominations scoop 2016’s BAFTA Scotland’s Best Programme Award. Celebrity guest panellists on the show include Romesh Ranganathan, Joel Dommett and Susan Calman.
A regular voice on the radio too, Iain has made appearances on programs including The Now Show and Dilemma (both BBC Radio 4), Afternoon Edition and Fighting Talk (both BBC Radio 5 Live), Cel Spellman (BBC Radio One) and recorded a Radio One takeover.
Beginning to make a name for himself internationally, Iain performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and New Zealand Comedy Festival earlier this year. An Edinburgh Festival Fringe favourite, Iain has performed five sold-out and critically-acclaimed shows: Onwards!(2016), Touchy Feely (2015), Everything (2014), Iain Stirling At Home (2013) and Happy To Be The Clown? (2012).
