“as much a lecture as traditional stand-up, and features original journalism… Gorman makes me laugh. He also tells me stuff I don’t know… The show was a little tour de force, terrific-ish” ★ ★ ★ ★

Andrew Billen, The Times

“TV Gold: brilliantly-observed… and is naturally very funny”

Ally Ross, The Sun

Ratings and critical hit, Dave Gorman Modern Life Is Goodish will return on Dave for a fourth series from 8th November. With the last series seeing a peak of 1.9m individuals for its final episode across the week of transmission alone, the show has continued to grow its audience series-on-series making it one of UKTV’s most successful original commissions.

For Dave Gorman, modern life is still good…ish –  it’s the absurdities and contradictions of today’s world that continue to fascinate and infuriate him.  And so his fightback continues (ish) with these six new mischievous comedy performances.  In his own unique style, combining stand-up, visual storytelling, and real-world experimentation, Dave once again turns his attention to the areas of everyday life we normally take for granted. In this series Dave concocts a convoluted method for getting rid of an unwanted gift, reimagines a classic game show and recruits his favourite celeb, Homes Under The Hammer star MARTIN ROBERTS, for an experiment.  He explores the perils of stock photography modelling, takes the long way round to irritate an old friend, explains in depth why he doesn’t describe himself as “A Geek”, and admits to regularly seeking life-guidance from hip-hop superstar KANYE WEST.  Flirty hotel soap, kinky cages and overly familiar foods will all be in the firing line whilst the diamond industry is brought to its knees and he’s just getting warmed up.

Of course no Modern Life Is Goodish would be complete without our host sifting through “the bottom half of the internet” for those real words by real people; digging out the ridiculous, opinionated and downright maddest reader comments to be found on the most frenzy-inducing newspaper articles for, what Dave likes to call, a Found Poem.

Dave Gorman Modern Life Is Goodish starts Tuesday 8th November, 10pm on Dave.

Other things the press have said about Dave Gorman Modern Life Is Goodish:

“It’s a sort of cutting-edge documentary-slash-stand-up hybrid, with Gorman offering genius gags aplenty”

Rachel Aroesti, The Guardian Guide

“Gorman is that rare thing: a comedian who leaves you with a warm glow and tears in your eyes”

Claire Webb, Radio Times

“Dave Gorman is a clever and inventive comic… and Modern Life Is Goodish shows why he is so popular”

Simon Horsford, The Daily Telegraph

“in the study of modern miscellany Dave Gorman is the equivalent of a professor emeritus… Not so much a stand-up comedian as the funniest teacher fans never had… Gorman is an alternative comedian in the most literal sense. There’s no one else quite like him.”

Ian Burrell, The Independent

“When TV goodish is perfect”

David Stephenson, Sunday Express

“Dave Gorman is funny and brilliant in equal measure.”

David Chater, The Times

“consistently brilliant”

Adam Postans, The People

“there are nice ideas here, and the section revealing the results of leaving disposable cameras around London (with user instructions) is really entertaining”

The Sunday Times, Culture

What the press has said about previous Liberty Bell productions:

“It may sound as if TV game shows have finally jumped the shark – or indeed the sheep – but Flockstars is the first really good idea ITV have had for some time.  Brilliant title, cracking concept: like One Man and His Dog, but with national appeal”

Horatio Clare, The Sunday Telegraph

The Three Day Nanny

“I’m not just watching, I’m taking notes, because a lot of this applies to my family.”

Sam Wollaston, The Guardian

Portillo on Thatcher: The Lady’s Not For Spurning

“Gordon Brown and David Cameron should watch it. Tony Blair should get a hold of a tape and reflect on what might have been. Media bosses who only commission films if they portray politicians as corrupt and mad should take note also… I know people with only a passing interest in politics who were gripped.”

Steve Richards, The Independent

The Alastair Campbell Diaries

“Just as DVD extras allow you to see the human fallibility that lies behind the polished exterior of the finished film, Campbell’s diary fills in the engrossing trivia of off-stage politics… it is completely engrossing.”

Thomas Sutcliffe, The Independent

The Widow’s Tale

“This complex and moving film is one of the television highlights of the year so far.”

Andrew Male, The Sunday Times

Grumpy Old Men

“The whole programme put me into an uncharacteristically, seethingly good mood… Wonderful stuff”

A.A. Gill, The Sunday Times

About Dave

Dave’s had a haircut and shave in recent years as it grows from awkward teenager to fully-fledged commissioner of new and original shows. And it’s not just comedy these days but entertainment and even some knock-out live sport. Hit UKTV Original commissions include Taskmaster, Dave Gorman Modern Life is Goodish, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled and Crackanory, all laden with the biggest names in British comedy. Dave enjoyed critical success with two series of Hoff the Record, a mockumentary ensemble comedy led by the living legend DAVID HASSELHOFF.

As well as home-grown delights Dave also goes stateside, cherry-picking cult US Shows including the sharp-witted and sharp-suited Suits and much-loved Parks and Recreation along with Emmy-nominated The Last Man on Earth. This all contributed to Dave’s award win at the 2016 Broadcast Digital Awards for Best Entertainment Channel.

Dave is the UK’s most watched non-PSB channel broadcasting to over 27 million people per month, and viewers continue to enjoy the ludicrously addictive American Pickers and UK remake of Storage Hunters. The channel continues to grow its original commissioning slate with political show Unspun With Matt Forde, Red Dwarf XI, DARA O BRIAIN’S Go 8 Bit, fantasy comedy Zapped! and Celebrity Storage Hunters airing later this year.
