COMEDY DRAMA SERIES PLEASE LIKE ME COMING TO AMAZON PRIME VIDEO IN JULY

Amazon Prime Video is announcing today that comedy drama series Please Like Me will be available on Amazon Prime Video from 8th July in a deal with Avalon Distribution.

Written by and starring comedian Josh Thomas, the award-winning Australian TV series looks honestly at the awkward and sometimes dark moments of our lives and relationships, and finds a way to make them funny.

Josh is shocked to be dumped by his girlfriend, Claire (Caitlin StaseyNeighbours, Reign), and even more shocked when she tells him it’s because he’s gay. He starts to realise she may have a point when he meets the odd but handsome Geoffrey (Wade BriggsStill Star Crossed, Home and Away). The excitement of moving out with his best friend, Tom (played by his real life best friend Thomas Ward), is put on hold when Josh has to move back to the family home to deal with his mother’s (Debra LawranceHome and Away) mental illness.

Seasons 1 to 3 of Please Like Me will be available to Amazon Prime Video members from 8th July.

“Please Like Me” is executive produced by Josh Thomas, Todd Abbott and Kevin Whyte. Executive producers for the ABC are Rick Kalowski and Brett Sleigh; and for Pivot, Jeff Skoll, Belisa Balaban and Chris Loveall. “Please Like Me,” a Participant Media Original Series, is a Pigeon Fancier and John & Josh International Production, produced in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

All Amazon Originals and Exclusives can be watched by Prime members using the Amazon Video app for smart TVs, connected devices like Fire TV, on mobiles or tablets, or online at www.amazon.co.uk/primevideo

What the press have said about Please Like Me:

“…it cultivates a tone that resists neat definition: it’s sweet, sharp, sad, funny and astute in its observations of modern life, social mores and family interactions… The cast gathered around Thomas features a collection of superbly judged performances… In a just world, we’d all be flinging flowers at the feet of Josh Thomas, and loudly proclaiming him to be to a shining and reassuring light in the endangered zone of Australian TV comedy” Debi Enker, Sydney Morning Herald

“ sweetly melancholic… a bit like “Louie” or “Girls”—that is, if Louis CK were Australian or Lena Dunham gay.” Emily Nussbaum, The New Yorker

“Please Like Me is one of the best shows on TV when it comes to capturing the ups and downs of twentysomething life at the sluggish pace at which it actually happens” Nolan Feeney, Time Magazine

“All I ever want is to be curled in bed watching Please Like Me. This show soothes my existential unrest. I love you @JoshThomas87”  Lena Dunham (via Twitter)
