US stand-up, actor and writer JOE DEROSA is set to make a highly anticipated UK debut with a month long run of Zero Forward Progress at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Through his trademark brand of brutal honesty and world-weary disappointment, DEROSA will flesh out his frustrations with people, their practices and, of course, his own flawed self from 4th-28th August at the Belly Laugh, Underbelly.
As an actor DEROSA has made multiple appearances in critically acclaimed American TV shows including playing a crooked vet in the spin-off prequel of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, cynical detective in AMY SCHUMER’S Inside Amy Schumer, jaded Hollywood writer in LOUIE C.K’s Louie, comic bookkeeper in Bored To Death (starring JASON SCHWARTZMAN and ZACH GALIFIANAKIS) and sex addict in Sullivan & Son (executive-produced by VINCE VAUGHN). He is the voice of character RUFUS BELLOWS in one of the bestselling video games of all time Grand Theft Auto V. Other credits include starring in two episodes of Comedy Central Presents, performing on Chelsea Lately and regularly joining the panel on Red Eye w/Greg Gutfeld.
As a stand-up DEROSA performs nationwide in the States, recently opening for BILL BURR (Breaking Bad, F Is f Family and Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast) at Madison Square Garden, featuring at festivals such as South By Southwest and headlining at comedy clubs. He has four stand-up albums titled Mistakes Were Made: The B Sides (2014), You Will Die (2013), Return of the Son of Depression Auction (2011) and The Depression Auction (2010) which have often reached the Top Ten Albums on iTunes and Billboard Comedy Charts.
As a writer DEROSA has worked on a number of projects including the Netflix original comedy series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (a prequel to the cult film Wet Hot American Summer featuring the original cast including AMY POEHLER, PAUL RUDD and BRADLEY COOPER), documentary Women Aren’t Funny (including perspectives from stand-ups including JOAN RIVERS, SARAH SILVERMAN and SUSIE ESSMAN) and The Pete Holmes Show.
As a podcaster DEROSA is currently a co-host alongside Always Sunny in Philadelphia and 2 Broke Girls writer PATRICK WALSH on horror podcast We’ll See You In Hell. In 2014 DEROSA began hosting his own podcast Down With Joe DeRosa which shortly after its inception joined AL MADRIGAL’S (The Daily Show) and BILL BURR’S All Things Comedy podcast network but ceased production last year.
DEROSA and BURR first collaborated together as co-hosts on radio show Uninformed in 2006 and have continued to work and perform together on ventures including performing at the prestigious Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall in New York, co-writing, co-producing and co-starring alongside ROBERT KELLY in a short film titled Cheat and co-authoring a book based on the short.
DEROSA was born in Pennsylvania and resides in Los Angeles today.
