COMEDY CENTRAL UK GREENLIGHTS CHRIS RAMSEY PILOT
COMEDY CENTRAL UK GREENLIGHTS CHRIS RAMSEY PILOT

Comedy Central UK has greenlit a pilot for a new comedy entertainment show fronted by comedian and self-confessed ‘cyber-loafer’, Chris Ramsey.

The 22-minute pilot, currently untitled, is being produced by Avalon Television and will be shot in front of a live audience at the London Studios in early July.

It will feature Ramsey and guest comedians ‘taking a fast-paced look at the stories everybody has been talking about and sharing via social media`, via a mixture of regular and random games, pre-recorded items and audience interaction in an informal studio setting.

The pilot is being produced for Avalon by Mark Iddon, with Richard Allen-Turner and Jon Thoday as executive producers. It has been developed through Comedy Central’s Head of Development, Matt Tiller, with Louise Holmes, VP, Programming as Commissioning Editor.

The pilot is part of a broader push by Comedy Central to increase the volume of non-scripted original British comedy it broadcasts. Original commissions that have aired on Comedy Central UK in 2016 include a second series of Drunk History (Tiger Aspect) and Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Avalon). A new Avalon-produced series fronted by Russell Howard, Travels with My Mum in the US (working title), will air in the autumn.

Holmes said: “Chris is ingenious enough to have had pizza delivered to a moving train and incautious enough to have been arrested in his underpants. We await his pilot with a giddy mix of anticipation and fear.”
