ALEX HORNE ANNOUNCES TWO FINAL LONDON PERFORMANCES OF HIS FOSTER’S COMEDY AWARD NOMINATED SHOW, MONSIUER BUTTERFLY

“Ingenious silliness, a delight to witness” Stephane Merritt, The Observer

ALEX HORNE has announced two final London performances of his 2014 Foster’s Comedy Award nominated show Monsieur Butterfly at London’s Hoxton Hall on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November.

Remember that board game, Mousetrap, where you had to build a complicated machine to catch a mouse? Now that was a brilliant board game, wasn’t it? And you know that Honda advert, where all the car parts collided to make a thing happen? Now that was a brilliant advert, wasn’t it? Of course, Mousetrap was a game for kids which meant you lost the rubber band and the ball-bearing would always fall off the chute. And that Honda ad actually took nine months to set up, cost a million pounds and was still only successful on the 660th attempt. Well, in this unprecedented comedy experience, you can watch ALEX HORNE attempt something similar in just 56 minutes. He’ll have just one chance. He has not spent a million pounds. (He has, however, invested over £85 on eBay, made over ten trips to Wickes and bought a second-hand van.)

Stupidly ambitious, logistically problematic, potentially disastrous, this is the show ALEX has wanted to make for a decade. Finally, he will be Monsieur Butterfly. One flap of his delicate wings, and mayhem may prevail.

ALEX HORNE is the creator of Taskmaster, the hit television show he starred in alongside GREG DAVIES for UKTV’s Dave. FRANK SKINNER, JOSH WIDDICOMBE, ROMESH RANGANATHAN, ROISIN CONATY and TIM KEY appeared as contestants in series one and it was recently announced that the programme has been commissioned for a further two series by Dave.

ALEX’s other television credits include co-hosting two series of We Need Answers (BBC4), Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave), Celebrity Mastermind (BBC1) Fifteen to One (Channel 4), Drunk History (Comedy Central) and The Games That Time Forgot, a documentary ALEX wrote and presented for BBC Four. ALEX has hosted three series of the iTune chart-topping, Chortle Award nominated podcast ALEX HORNE BREAKS THE NEWS. To date ALEX HORNE has written nine solo stand-up shows including 2003’s Best Newcomer Perrier Award nominated Making Fish Laugh and 2004’s Chortle Award winning Every Body Talks.

Alongside his band The Horne Section, ALEX has hosted Nevermind the Buzzcocks (BBC Two) and three series of the acclaimed Alex Horne Presents: The Horne Section (BBC Radio 4). The band appeared on John Bishop’s Christmas Show (BBC One) and in dictionary corner on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4).
