CATASTROPHE

A brand new comedy for Channel 4

ROB DELANEY (comedian and best-selling author) and SHARON HORGAN (award-winning actress and star/co-writer of Pulling) write and star in Catastrophe, a brand new 6 x 30 comedy following an Irish woman and an American man who make a bloody mess as they struggle to fall in love in London. Clumsy lust, instant pregnancy, and genuine disaster provide the foundation for this flaming hovel of a relationship.

In a mess of events always in danger of slipping out of their grasp, Rob and Sharon must also learn to deal with her largely awful friend (ASHLEY JENSEN, Extras and Ugly Betty); his eccentric Bostonian mother (CARRIE FISHER, Star Wars); and attempt to navigate the choppy waters of their ever-more-complicating lives. Can Sharon, “an extraordinarily good-smelling woman” and Rob, “a sturdy love-maker” steer through the increasingly thorny situations they find themselves in and still find time for an emergency shag in a stairwell? Prepare to find out.

US comic ROB DELANEY’s debut in the UK involved him selling out a run in London in one hour, after just one tweet, making him the fastest selling US performer in the venue’s history. With over one million followers, he has been named ‘Funniest Person on Twitter’ (Comedy Central Comedy Awards), as well as collecting similar accolades with Rolling Stone, Huffington Post, Vice Magazine, Paste Magazine and Funny or Die. Known as one of America’s best live stand-ups he has made appearances on shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Conan while other television credits include Comedy Central’s Key & Peele, E!’s Chelsea Lately, and Burning Love. In 2012 ROB was named one of Variety’s ‘Top 10 Comics to Watch’ and in 2013, his bestselling memoir, Rob Delaney: Mother. Wife. Sister. Human. Warrior. Falcon. Yardstick. Turban. Cabbage. was released by Spiegel & Grau in the US and by Little Brown in the UK.

SHARON HORGAN is an Irish actress, writer and director. Her BBC show, Pulling, was nominated for the BAFTA for Best Sitcom with Series 2 winning Sharon the British Comedy Award for Best Television Comedy Actress. She has created, written and starred in many other comedy shows, including Angelo’s, Free Agents and Dead Boss, and many US pilots including Bad Management, Bad Mom and Executive Producing a remake of Pulling. Her other acting credits include The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, Psychobitches and Bad Sugar. Sharon’s directorial debut The Week Before Christmas won The Outstanding Achievement Award at the International 3D Awards, and she will soon be directing full length feature Meet Me In Ten Years.
