Are you a glass half full kind of person? If so, congratulations, you are an optimist and this is the show for you. Are you a glass half empty kind of person? If so, at least you bought a drink in the first place so you’re still an optimist. Congratulations, this is the show for you. Fresh from a month-long run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, delightfully outspoken TIFF STEVENSON has embarked on a UK tour with her brand-new show Optimist and it was announced today it will include a run at the Soho Theatre from 25th- 28th February 2015.
When everyone and everything around you appears to be sliding into an arsehole apocalypse™, TIFF will navigate you on an optimistic course through hangovers, the Kardashians, guns, the NHS, your inner-critic and Everyday Vodka.
TIFF is curator and host of London’s legendary stand-up night Old Rope, a weekly showcase of new material from both distinguished and up-and-coming acts. The show has also enjoyed a succession of sell-out runs at the fringe and TIFF’s solo Edinburgh stand-up shows, Uncomfortably Numb, Cavewoman, Dictators and Along Came a Spider have met with critical acclaim at the festival, including the award for Mervyn Stutter’s Spirit of the Fringe in 2012.
A frequent face on television screens, TIFF has appeared as a panellist on Mock the Week (BBC Two), Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC Two) and The Apprentice: You’re Fired! (BBC Two). She was a finalist on ITV1’s Show Me the Funny and further television performances include The Office (BBC Two), Absolute Power (BBC Two), Balls of Steel (Channel 4), Only Joking (Sky), Celebrity Deal Or No Deal (Channel 4) and Live With Gabby (Five). TIFF has made regular appearances on Front Row (BBC Radio 4), MacCaulay & Co (BBC Radio Scotland) and 7 Day Saturday & Sunday with AL MURRAY (BBC Radio 5 Live).
Inspired by the success of her acclaimed and award winning 2012 show Uncomfortably Numb, TIFF has received private equity funding to make a documentary which will explore plastic surgery, ageing and our perceptions of women’s faces.
After taking a lead role a lead role in Talk Radio, an ERIC BOGOSIAN play directed by STEWART LEE at Edinburgh Festival in 2006, TIFF has since made numerous performances on the stage including starring alongside DAVID TENNANT, MICHAEL URIE, SALLY PHILLIPS & DOON MACKICHAN in Celebrity Autobiography, which later transferred to London’s West End.
