It was announced today that The Rest is History, a brand-new, six-part comedy discussion show hosted by FRANK SKINNER for BBC Radio 4 will begin on Sunday December 14th.
FRANK SKINNER loves history, but just doesn’t know much of it, so he’s devised The Rest Is History, a brand new comedy discussion show, in order to find out more about it. Along with his historian in residence DR KATE WILLIAMS, each episode will see FRANK joined by a selection of celebrity guests, who will help him navigate his way through the annals of time, picking out and chewing over the funniest, oddest, and most interesting moments in history. Guests for the series include DAVID BADDIEL, JOHN LLOYD, VICTORIA COREN-MITCHELL, DAVID MITCHELL, DAVE GORMAN, KATY BRAND, SARA PASCOE, ANDY ZALTZMAN, EMMA KENNEDY, STEVE HALL, ROISIN CONATY AND JOSH WIDDICOMBE.
The Rest is History is an Avalon Television production commissioned by CAROLINE RAPHAEL, Commissioning Editor, Comedy and Fiction for BBC Radio 4. The series is co-produced by DAN SCHREIBER (co-creator & producer of BBC Radio 4’s The Museum of Curiosity), and JUSTIN POLLARD (Historian, author, columnist and historical advisor for productions including Pirates of the Caribbean, The Tudors and Vikings. Executive producers are JON THODAY and RICHARD ALLEN-TURNER.
FRANK SKINNER is currently on an extended UK tour with his first live stand up show in seven years, Man In a Suit. The show sold out its debut run at London’s Soho Theatre in October 2013 and a subsequent five week residency at the Leicester Square Theatre at the start of 2014. In August 2014 FRANK performed Man In a Suit for 24 consecutive nights at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
FRANK SKINNER will host a fourth series of BBC One’s Room 101 in early 2015 and can currently be seen presenting Portrait Artist of the Year (Sky Arts) in late 2014. As a radio presenter, FRANK’sSony Award winning Absolute Radio show attracts over 600,000 listeners every Saturday morning and won Speech Programme at the 2014 Radio Academy Awards (formerly the Sonys). FRANK recently guest-starred in an episode of the new series of Doctor Who this Autumn.
