ONE MAN, ONE GUVNOR – 20 YEARS AT THE LAGER TOP

It was announced today (Wednesday 9th April 2014) that, in the GUVNOR’S twentieth year, multi-award-winning AL MURRAY, THE PUB LANDLORD will embark on a 52-date tour of the UK with a brand new live stand-up show. Starting on the 3rd September and running up to 30th November, the GUV will hold forth in many of Great Britain’s finest theatres including three nights at London’s prestigious Southbank Centre.

Twenty years ago Britain’s favourite publican AL MURRAY, THE PUB LANDLORD, embarked on his one man mission as the King Cnut of Common Sense, holding back a tide of bottled beer and ninny state nonsense. To celebrate this milestone join this icon on his new tour with his brand new show, One Man, One Guvnor – 20 years at the lager top.

Tickets for the new tour are on pre-sale from today, with information available through thepublandlord.com, and go on general sale from 9.00am Friday 11th April.

The new tour dates are listed on the following pages.

What the press said about the Guvnor’s most recent tour, The Only Way Is Epic:

“It’s wickedly witty stuff, and the knowledge that Murray is in fact a staunch, rather high-born Europhile with an MA in modern history makes this outwardly boorish satire on British provincialism more seductive still – right down, in fact, to the occasional guilt-ridden moment of doubt as to exactly what it is you’re laughing at.”
Mark Monahan, The Daily Telegraph

“. . .a bona fide British institution. . . his material packs a sharpness that makes you think his glass is still charged with a drop of the satirical brew that made the name of his ancestor William Makepeace Thackeray.”
Warren Howard, The Independent

“. . .an exceptional balancing act. Performing in his short-sleeved white shirt, with a working beer pump behind him, Murray’s interaction with his crowd remains one of the wonders of the comedy world… satire with scope and a real sting from this Oxford history graduate.”
Dominic Maxwell, The Times

“No one works a room like Murray. . . sets up numerous running jokes, keeping them all going like spinning plates. His quick insults pull no punches, but are done with obvious affection, in the spirit of mates’ conversations the land over – but never as sharp as this.”
Steve Bennett, Chortle

“Britain’s favourite Pub philosopher”
The Daily Record
