US COMIC KURT BRAUNOHLER TO PERFORM DEBUT SOLO SHOW AT LONDON’S SOHO THEATRE

Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, KURT BRAUNOHLER brings his first solo show Kurt Braunohler: Here’s Where It Gets Weird to the Soho Theatre, London with tales of battling British washing machines, writing jokes in the sky, and bar fights gone erotic. BRAUNOHLER will perform for six nights only from Tuesday 28th January to Sunday 2nd February 2014.

Alongside comedy partner KRISTEN SCHAAL, KURT co-created and has co-hosted the critically-acclaimed sell-out New York variety show Hot Tub for 7 years. In January 2013 the duo moved Hot Tub to LA where it was hailed by Los Angeles Magazine as “the hottest new comedy show”. KURT and KRISTEN continue to curate, host and perform Hot Tub to sold-out audiences every week. The pair are winners of the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s prestigious Barry Award.

KURT has performed as a solo comic on stages and at festivals across the world including; Outside Lands, SXSW, All Tomorrow’s Parties, Bonnaroo, Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and Chicago, and IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang! Live. Oh, and he once performed at Radio City Music Hall. KURT also hosts the monthly late night talk show, Night of the Living with Kurt Braunohler, with past guests including ZACH GALIFIANAKIS, TED LEO and JON GLASER.

Listed in Variety’s annual prestigious 10 Comics To Watch and featured in Time Out New York’s 50 Funniest New Yorkers and Backstage Magazine’s 5 Comics To Watch, KURT has also been named as a Comic to Watch by Comedy Central, the New York Comedy Festival and Time Out New York, as well as Best Male Stand-Up by the ECNY and Best Unscripted Host by the New York Television Festival.

Television credits include, Bob’s Burgers (FOX), Chelsea Lately (E!), John Oliver Stand Up, Comedy Central Presents, Jon Benjamin Has a Van (all Comedy Central), Human Giant (MTV), @Midnight (Comedy Central) and Morgan Spurlock’s New Britannia (Sky Atlantic). KURT hosted IFC’s hit comedy game show Bunk! and he can also be heard on the radio on This American Life.

In early 2013, KURT was announced as the first comedy signing to indie music label Kill Rock Stars. His debut album How Do I Land? was released earlier this year, the title being a reference to KURT’s “Cloud Project” where he raised $6,000 on a crowd-funding website to charter a sky-writing plane trailing the words “How Do I Land?” across the LA sky. The images went viral.

KURT recently launched his new podcast The K Ohle with Kurt Braunohler. The weekly podcast, available on the Nerdist Network, has featured guests including; PAUL F. TOMPKINS, MATT BRAUNGER and JON DALY.
