After inexplicably failing to get famous in the UK for three years, triple Chortle Award nominees (2011, 2012, 2013) PEACOCK & GAMBLE have even more inexplicably become all famous in Japan. Yes! No messing – your favourite lovely little smashers RAY & ED return triumphant from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with their brand-new show, Heart-throbs, to shout their way through tales of their new found super-stardom in a knockabout hour of electrifying stupidity on their UK tour.
RAY and ED first came to prominence with the hugely popular Peacock & Gamble Podcast which earned the duo two Chortle Comedy Award nominations, a place in the Guardian’s top-ten comedy podcasts, featured as part of the in-flight entertainment on British Airways and led to them becoming permanent hosts of The Comedy Club (Radio 4 Extra). The boys have both appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC THREE) and remain the only act to have been invited back to perform twice on the show. In 2011 PEACOCK & GAMBLE created a short film for BBC online entitled Warm Up. Alongside their critically-acclaimed 2012 and 2013 Edinburgh shows RAY and ED have hosted and produced a Chortle sponsored daily podcast at the festival which was number one on the iTunes podcast charts this summer featuring comedy giants including RUSSELL HOWARD, LEE MACK, GREG DAVIES, ARDAL O’HANLON and MATT LUCAS. In spring 2013, ‘Peacock and Gamble Emergency Broadcast’ was commissioned for a pilot by BBC Radio 4.
As a solo artist, RAY created The Ray Peacock Podcast in 2007 which later become the Peacock & Gamble Podcast. In September 2013 he will present BBC Radio 4extra’s Listening To Les, a LES DAWSON themed show in which he will interview guests including KEN DODD, NEIL INNES and LEE MACK. As an actor he has featured in TV shows including; Doctor Who (BBC One), Skins (E4) and Not Going Out (BBC One). ED has performed on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three) and Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave) and written jokes for Ask Rhod Gilbert (BBC One) and Mock the Week (BBC Two). He has supported RUSSELL KANE on tour and will once again warm up for GREG DAVIES this autumn.
