“joyous, award-winning hour, in which Irish comedian Dowd plays a swashbuckling Lothario, is essentially a one-man panto for grown-ups who don’t like panto” The Telegraph

“a happy hour of gleefully Fringey late-night nonsense: nonsense sustained, it should be said, by deceptive quantities of craftsmanship behind all the loopy swordfighting, sweaty singing, liberty-taking crowdplay and parodic storytelling” ★★★★The Times

“comedy of the most ridiculous variety” ★★★★ The Guardian

“a riot from beginning to end…a cult hit” ★★★★★ Chortle

Following a sell-out run at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, winner of 2018 Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer Ciarán Dowd will bring his critically-acclaimed show Don Rodolfo to Soho Theatre from 18th December 2018 to 12th January 2019 at 9.45pm.

The debut solo show from Ciarán Dowd sees him play legendary swashbuckler Don Rodolfo Martini Toyota, a total butthead, a shameless libertine and the greatest swordsman the world has ever seen. The grotesque love child of Don Juan and Don Quixote will take you on a journey through his conquests, his adventures and every stupid thought in his idiot head.

Ciarán has appeared in Josh (BBC1), GameFace (E4/Hulu), Zapped (Dave) and has made the most guest appearances on Drunk History (Comedy Central). This year he can be seen in Stephen Merchant’s feature film Fighting With My Family (Film4) and Keith Lemon: Coming in America (ITV2). Ciarán will also be seen on stage in the new comedy play Chasing Bono by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais (writers of Porridge, The Likely Lads and Auf Wiedersehen Pet) from 6th December to 19th January 2019 at the Soho Theatre. Ciarán is also a member of the critically acclaimed sketch group BEASTS. BEASTS have made numerous appearances on BBC Radio 4, were nominated for the Amused Moose Comedy Awards in 2014 and their sell-out shows were among the top reviewed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
