US STAND-UP COMEDIAN ALI SIDDIQ BRINGS CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED SHOW TO SOHO THEATRE CONTINUING THE SHOW’S INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS

It was announced today, 18th September, US comedian and writer Ali Siddiq is set to visit the UK with his critically-acclaimed show Ali Siddiq is bigger than bars, performing at Soho Theatre from 29th October to 3rd November.

Ali Siddiq’s unique style of stand-up began during six years in prison, performing sets for fellow inmates. In Ali Siddiq is bigger than bars, he recounts experiences from both incarceration and freedom, turning hard times into hearty laughs with stories about everything from uncomfortable prison nudity to the time he doused himself in baby oil and refused to leave his cell.

Ali first came to prominence when he appeared on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and Live from Gotham. In 2013, he was named Comedy Central’s “#1 Comic to Watch”, later captivating audiences with his “Mexican Got Boots On” tale, a descriptive storytelling of a prison riot on Comedy Central’s This is Not Happening, which has received 5 million hits on YouTube. His stories continued with his Half Hour special, which premiered on Comedy Central in 2016.

This February, Ali returned to prison to film a one-hour Comedy Central special, Ali Siddiq: It’s Bigger Than These Bars, finding him back in the cell block, performing stand-up and interviewing inmates and administrators. In addition to frequent touring, including headlining the world famous Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal this year, Ali has released four original albums of stand-up material. Ali has appeared on Showtime’s Ladies Night Out Tour, Centric’s All Star Taping and BET’s Comic View.
