ROB AUTON BRINGS THE FACE SHOW TO THE SOHO THEATRE

“A genuine original” Guardian

Building on the success of a critically-acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, award winning York-born writer and performer ROB AUTON brings The Face Show, a comedy/theatre/talking show about faces, to the Soho Theatre from 5-7th March. Following on from 2012’s The Yellow Show, a show about the colour yellow, and 2013’s The Sky Show, a show about the sky, ROB has turned his attention to faces. This show is suitable for people who have a face or have seen someone with a face.

ROB has ideas, writes them down and says them to audiences at comedy nights, poetry nights and at theaters at night. He has been standing up and saying things to audiences up, down and across the British Isles since 2008 and continues to build an audience through his unique world view which has resulted in him being shortlisted for the prestigious Arts Foundation Spoken Word Award and in taking on the official role of Glastonbury Festival’s ‘Poet in Residence’ in 2014 during which CERYS MATTHEWS told ROB “I could talk to you forever” live on air on BBC Radio 6.

In the past two years ROB has had two collections of writing and illustrations published by Burning Eye books and has had his poetry turned into short films and shown on Channel 4. ROB also starred in and co-wrote the short film The Peamaster which was nominated for Best Short Film at the 2012 Milan Film Festival.

In 2013 ROB won the Dave Funniest Joke of The Fringe award with a gag about Chinese Wispas. On the day the news broke, he spoke to VANESSA FELTZ on radio 2, the conversation resulting in her saying “that’s just sad” a quote that will stick with him forever.

ROB co-organises the renowned Bang Said The Gun, a weekly raucous poetry extravaganza in south London, which has seen poets including ROGER MCGOUGH, JOHN HEGLEY, SIR ANDREW MOTION and KATE TEMPEST perform.
