Comedian Kieran Boyd is bringing his brand-new stand up show Crashing the Party to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, from 1st to 25th August at 2.45pm at Just the Tonic, Marlin’s Wynd.
A lot of people wake up at 30 and wonder what they did with their 20’s. Kieran knows exactly what he did with them – he threw them all into an incredibly fun, occasionally successful, frequently reckless and often disapproved-of sketch group. Now the group has disbanded, he’s making sense of the present while having flashbacks about the past. Crashing the Party showcases Kieran as an infectious storyteller, canny joke-writer and brilliant company.
After 9 live shows, 2 national tours, 3 series of BBC3 sketch shows and a Channel 4 pilot, things were looking up for WitTank (‘Smart, psychotic, and very funny’ The List). Then the group fell out, made up, and called it a day just in time for two of them to be best men at the third’s wedding. With tales from the heady days of performing the chaotic and much-loved shows that made them a Fringe favourite, Crashing the Party is a hilarious patchwork of stories about life before, during and after the wheels come off and the tank runs dry.
As a stand up, Kieran is a regular on the circuit and an in-demand MC. He was a semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny? and the Amused Moose Laugh-Off. In 2012 he was part of The Comedy Zone, the Fringe’s longest running and most prestigious stand up showcase. This is his third solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe.
As part of WitTank (‘Masterful’ Sunday Times, ‘Twisted’ The Telegraph), Kieran has been seen on Live At The Electric (BBC 3) and heard on Sketchorama (BBC Radio 4) as well as performing many years of sold-out shows at the Fringe and recording a sitcom pilot. In 2011 the group received a Best Show Nomination at the Leicester Comedy Festival and have appeared on Three at the Fringe (BBC3) and BBC Radio Scotland.
