It was announced today (09 June 2014) that after eight hugely successful series on BBC Three, Russell Howard’s Good News is moving to BBC Two.

The show, in which RUSSELL comments on the week’s news with a mix of stand up, sketches and special guests, has enjoyed huge ratings and critical acclaim and has been a firm favourite with BBC Three viewers since it started in 2009.

KIM SHILLINGLAW, Controller, BBC Two said: “It is brilliant news that the wonderfully funny Russell Howard is coming to BBC Two and I very much look forward to welcoming his lively take on modern life to the channel.”

MARK LINSEY, Controller, Entertainment Commissioning said: “Five years ago BBC Three spotted Russell’s great talent, commissioned this brilliantly funny show, nurtured and cherished it and is now passing it on to BBC Two as a fully-fledged hit.”

RUSSELL HOWARD said: “I’m really looking forward to the new series on BBC Two, I can’t wait to get started.”

Russell Howard’s Good News is an Avalon production. Series produced by ROBYN O’BRIEN and directed by PETER ORTON, the BBC commissioning executive is PINKI CHAMBERS. The new series will air on BBC Two later in the year.

Russell Howard’s Good News was recently voted the ‘Best Ever BBC Three Show’ by Digital Spy. The average audience for the last series of Russell Howard’s Good News was 898k, with a 16-34 share of 9.6%, and the show is regularly in the Top 10 on BBC iPlayer. It was the best performing entertainment series on BBC Three last year.
