After a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Adam Hess will perform at London’s Soho Theatre from 11th to 16th September with his brand new show Cactus.  Returning with another hour of joke-packed storytelling stand-up, Cactus sees the Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nominee following the intertwining strands of his tangled love life, via an alternate career as a medical research guinea pig, and his inability to imagine the Queen with wet hair.

Adam was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2015 with his debut show Salmon, and followed it up with 2016’s Feathers, which he performed around the UK on a joint tour with Mae Martin and Rhys James after a sold out run at the Fringe.  Both shows received huge critical acclaim, with reviewers regularly commenting on Adam’s incredibly high joke rate, and became some of the best reviewed shows of the Festival in their respective years, as well as appearing in numerous ‘best jokes of the Fringe’ lists.

On TV and radio, Adam has appeared on Tonight at the Palladium (ITV), Count Arthur Strong (BBC One), Live from the BBC (BBC Two), Don’t Make Me Laugh (BBC Radio 4), Comedy Up Late (ABC), and was a staff writer on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Two).  He also filmed an episode of Drunk History, which didn’t make it to air because he got too drunk (even for Comedy Central).  Along with Lolly Adefope, Mat Ewins, Richard Gadd, John Kearns, Fin Taylor and Matt Winning, Adam is one of the creators of the cult hit Bearpit Podcast (Podcast), which is available to download from no good retailers.  As well as the Edinburgh Fringe, Adam has performed at festivals around the world including Melbourne International Comedy Festival, New Zealand Comedy Festival and Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival.  He won the Chortle Student Comedy Award in 2011, and has been nominated for Best Newcomer and Best Club Comic at the Chortle Awards.
