DOUBLE EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD NOMINEE CARL DONNELLY RETURNS TO THE EDINBURGH FRINGE MARKING 10 YEARS AT THE FESTIVAL

Donnelly can provoke laughter out of almost anything ★★★★ The Scotsman

Double Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Carl Donnelly is set to celebrate a decade’s worth of critically acclaimed stand-up at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with his 10th one-man show; ‘Strictly Carl Donnelly’ at The Ballroom, Counting House at 6:45pm.

10 years has passed since Carl first performed solo at the Fringe. Despite the world undergoing enormous changes politically, economically, and socially, it appears Carl hasn’t moved on at all- like a hamster in a wheel. Carl’s latest (and hopefully greatest) show is a retrospective glance at the last decade of his life, comparing the vegan meditating hippy of a man he is now to the person he used to be when he was a lot more foolhardy and naïve…and had a lot more hair.

Carl will also be performing the comedy show Carl Donnelly Speaks To The Dead for a limited run at the festival where he’ll be joined by guest comedians to (hopefully) contact the ‘other side’ in a séance with the help of the audience at the Blunda Bus at midnight every night from 18th – 22nd August.

A regular face on television, Carl’s credits include multiple appearances on Mock The Week (BBC Two), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), Stand Up For The Week (Channel 4), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), Dave’s One Night Stand, Alan Davies’ As Yet Untitled (Dave) and Football Tonight (BT Sport).

In 2013 Carl and Chris Martin relaunched the aptly named Carl Donnelly and Chris Martin Comedy Podcast, which has since recorded over 160 episodes, gained over 50,000 subscribers and been highlighted as a top ten comedy podcast by the Guardian, while his other podcast Babysitting Trevor received a nomination for Best Comedy Podcast at the British Podcast Awards this year.

Carl has twice been nominated at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards – as Best Newcomer in 2009 and for Best Show in 2013. He has also won Best Club Comedian at The Chortle Awards, Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year and Laughing Horse New Act of the Year. As well as completing several nationwide UK tours, Carl has performed at some of the world’s biggest comedy festivals including Montreal Just for Laughs, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival and Kilkenny Cat Laughs.
