CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED DEADPAN THEATRE RETURN TO THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE WITH NEW ROMANTIC COMEDY NARRATED BY ON-STAGE BAND, THIRD WHEEL

Hilarious…Laughs at every turn ★★★★ The Sunday Times

Quick-fire, zinger-filled scripting ★★★★ The Scotsman

Building on the critically-acclaimed two-part musical PREDRINKS|AFTERPARTY at 2016’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the writer/actors behind Deadpan Theatre Eliot Salt and Jude Mack return to perform a brand-new show about grief, love and everything in between, Third Wheel. The tightly-written, fast paced romantic comedy narrated by an on-stage band will be performed at the Gilded Balloon, Dining Room from the 2nd – 27th August at 2pm.

Delving in to the lives of two young women, Third Wheel follows the moment Polly (Salt) and Eve (Mack) are reluctantly reunited at their mutual friend Dylan’s (Harry Trevaldwyn) wake. Through a droll, Sondheim-esque narration, Dylan’s band Party In The Sky follow the pair as they put their differences aside and dutifully undertake his dying wish to reunite on a road trip around the UK, ashes in tow. Audiences are invited to experience the joy and pain of love and grief through the witty lens of Mack and Salt’s latest creation.

The theatre group Deadpan Theatre founded by Artemis Fitzalan and Eliot Salt in 2013, has established themselves at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with cult, heartfelt productions about generation Y. In 2016 the two-part musical PREDRINKS|AFTERPARTY written by Mack and Salt enjoyed a sell-out run at the festival which was met with rave reviews. The pair have since been collaborating as a duo Mack and Salt. Following a triumphant 2015 run with musical Get Your Shit Together, written by salt and directed by Mack, the play transferred to The Landor Theatre in London. An earlier production Low Tide in Glass Bay began at Bristol’s Alma Tavern Theatre in 2014, before transferring to the Landor Theatre, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for a sell-out, month-long run and returning to Bristol to the White Theatre.

Salt studied English at Bristol University and is currently training at LAMDA. Mack is an on stage and screen actor who recently starred in film Wanderland in 2015.
