Double BAFTA winning presenters Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes first appeared on our screens as contestants in Pop Idol in 2003. Their friendship began whilst filming backstage VT’s and they have been inseparable ever since.
Best-known for presenting Sam & Mark’s Big Friday Wind Up (CBBC) for which they received a Children’s BAFTA in 2013, the show has been running for an impressive 6 series.
Sam and Mark are firm family favourites with credits including Sam & Mark’s Sport Showdown, (CBBC), Top Of The Pops Reloaded, TMi, Sport Relief Does Glee Club (CBBC/BBC) which won Best Children’s Programme at the BAFTA Scotland Awards. This unstoppable duo also fronted The Great British Bake Off spin off, Junior Bake Off (CBBC), and the highly-rated family quiz show Copycats which ran for 4 Series.
The pair frequently appear on CBeebies beloved Bedtime Stories, reading titles including The Lion Inside, Hot Dog Hal and Elephant’s Pyjamas.
In addition, they have appeared as guests on The Xtra Factor, Sunday Brunch, The Dog Ate My Homework, Celebrity Juice and This Morning to name but a few. Sam and Mark also competed against each other on ITV’S Dancing on Ice, with them both going solo for a short spell when Mark appeared on Mastermind and Sam reached the final of BBC’s Celebrity Masterchef in 2015.
They are currently filming for CBBC’s Taking the Next Step which will air in Autumn 2017, as well as performing their On The Road Show at Butlin’s resorts on dates through to September 2017 having performed a successful run at Park Resorts in 2016.
Alongside their TV success, Sam and Mark are accomplished and well-loved authors, having published their first children’s book The Adventures of Long Arm in 2015 followed by the release of their second book in 2016 The Adventure of Long Arm vs The Evil Supply Teacher. 2017 will see the release of their third book The Stink Before Christmas
