Born in the O.C. and raised in the D.C. for a decade Amiira worked in the record industry for Atlantic Records (with Stone Temple Pilots, The Lemonheads, Juliana Hatfield, etc.) and then Epic Records in Los Angeles and New York. In 1999 she transitioned to being a writer and co-wrote Lucky Davis, a pilot script for 20th Television, with Greg Behrendt. In 2002, Amiira co-produced THE LEMUR, an original half-hour comedy pilot for DAKOTA FILMS/COMEDY CENTRAL, which featured her writing partners Moon Unit Zappa and Greg Behrendt.
In 2005 she and her husband, comedian and author, Greg combined their break-up experiences to write the ultimate breakup handbook. IT’S CALLED A BREAKUP BECAUSE IT’S BROKEN (THE SMART GIRL’S BREAKUP BUDDY) for BROADWAY BOOKS, which immediately jumped to the top of the book charts and saw Amiira and Greg featured on The Today Show, CNN, The Early Show and at the HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas.
Shortly thereafter Amiira and her husband worked together again with Amiira manning writer and producer duties on THE GREG BEHRENDT SHOW (SONY PICTURES/TRIBUNE) and GREG BEHRENDT’S WAKE UP CALL (ABC/SOAPNET). In 2007 Greg and Amiira became spokespeople for MATCH.COM and later bloggers for CHEMISTRY.COM. In 2008 Amiira and Greg adapted the bestselling vegan manifesto SKINNY BITCH for a half hour pilot script for NBC/BERMAN/BRAUN PRODUCTIONS. In 2009 Amiira and Greg visited college campuses and small theaters performing their lecture “SO YOU THINK YOU WANT TO BE IN LOVE” to the lovelorn. That same year they sold an original pilot, THROW THINGS AT DANNY to CBS. Amiira and Moon Zappa just completed their comedy pilot, THE NEST – an unconventional look at divorce, single life and parenting – for 20TH TELEVISION and FBC.
Amiira lives in Studio City with her husband and two daughters.
