ANDY ZALTZMAN ANNOUNCES CHARITY FUNDRAISER, UDDERBELLY FESIVAL DATES AND SOHO RESIDENCY

Building on the success of sold out runs at the Soho Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a UK tour, ANDY ZALTZMAN, the British-based half of the global hit topical podcast The Bugle, is set to take London by storm with his uniquely interactive show Satirist for Hire in the wake of the General Election. ANDY will kick-start the season as an MC to a charity fundraiser, in aid of cancer treatment in America for his daughter’s friend Michelle, with RUSSELL HOWARD, DANIEL KITSON and ALUN COCHRANE on the bill at the Battersea Arts Centre on the 27th February; currently the combined fundraising effort from Michelle’s parents and the Bugle appeal has resulted in nearly £60,000 being raised towards the £500,000 cost of treatment (immunotherapy) needed at the Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia. To follow, ANDY will perform three election specials at the Udderbelly Festival with further top guest comedians on the 16th and 23rd of April and on polling day on the 7th May and thereafter, due to popular demand, he will begin a monthly residency at the Soho Theatre on the 11th May.

Whether a general grumble or a specific bleat, audience members invited again to send in their satirico-queries in advance to satirisethis@satiristforhire.com, ANDY will then butter their political hot potato to order and serve it back to them. Are you exasperated by economics, piqued by politics, or wound up about the world? Then this is your chance to have the issues you care about satirised to order by one of Britain’s leading political comedians.

In addition to London dates ANDY will tour Satirist For Hire in Australia and New Zealand in February and March 2015, the runs follow overseas performances in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Calcutta where the ESPNCricinfo writer bowled over audiences with his debut stand-up 2013 tour of India with Cricket Versus The World in search of an answer to the ultimate question: which is better ” cricket, or The World? At Melbourne Festival in 2007, ANDY won the comedians’ comedian Piece Of Wood Award.

ANDY has established himself as one of Britain’s most inventive comedians with his distinctive brand of political comedy. Alongside JOHN OLIVER, he stars in the worldwide hit podcast, The Bugle, the weekly satirical comedy show which has gained an international following since its launch late in 2007, and now receives over 750,000 downloads per episode. ANDY and JOHN have previously co-written and starred in the BBC Radio 4 shows The Department and Political Animal (based on their live political stand-up show).

ANDY has been a regular at the Edinburgh Festival since being nominated for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award in 2001 and last year performed Satirist For Hire as his eighth one-man show. In 2004 and 2005, he and JOHN OLIVER performed sell-out Edinburgh Fringe runs as a double act.

In 2009 ANDY wrote and starred in his own Radio 4 series, Andy Zaltzman’s History Of The Third Millennium (Series 1 of 100), and conceived and hosted Yes! It’s The Ashes for BBC Radio 5Live. He has been a regular panelist on 5Live’s 7 Day Sunday (and 7 Day Saturday) since its inception in 2010 and has made a number of guest appearances on TV and radio, including two series of The Alternative Comedy Experience (Comedy Central), The Now Show and The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4), and Bremner, Bird & Fortune (Channel 4), for which he also wrote for several years. ANDY also appeared on JOHN OLIVER’s Comedy Central stand-up special Terrifying Times, and performed on John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show.
